SECURITY OFFICER defined by the state of Alabama is
- A person employed under contract, whose principal purpose is to protect a person or persons or property from criminal activity, and whose duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- The detection and prevention of unauthorized intrusion or entry, larceny, vandalism, abuse, arson, or trespass on private property.
- The prevention, observation, or detection of any unauthorized activity on private property.
- The control, regulation, or direction of the flow or movements of individuals, whether by vehicle, on foot, or otherwise are required to be licensed with the state of Alabama. (For a complete Definition see Section 34C-27C-1 of the Alabama State The State of Alabama requires all persons working as a security guard or security officer in the state of Alabama to be certified and licensed by the state by a ASRB Certified Trainer I (unarmed) or Certified Trainer II (Armed). The Alabama Security Regulatory Board (ASRB) requires all persons working as a security guard or officer complete the following:
- Eight (8) hour minimum ASRB approved training course by a ASRB certified Trainer I
- ASRB application completion and approval, which includes a background check,
- Eight (8) hour minimum Firearms Training by ASRB certified Trainer II for armed

The required eight (8) hour course will cover the following required training syllabus, topic and training are to include but are not limited to the following. A minimum score 75% must be met on the written test on the following subject matter.
Basic Security Guard Training
- Ethics and Integrity in security

- Self-defense statute and the use of limited force
- Security guard responsibilities and limitations as to the detainment of persons

Self Defense Solutions and Associates ASRB Approved Security Armed Guard Training
The Basic NRA handgun safety course is designed to introduce the armed guard to the basic operation of a handgun. This course will cover the following course syllabus. A minimum score of 80% must be met to pass the shooting qualification portion of the course and 75% on the written test.
Basic Armed Guard Firearms Training
- Operation and parts description of a revolver and semi-automatic pistol.
- Proper handling and sight alignment techniques.
- Bullet types and caliber selection for an individual’s pistol.
- Range safety rules and protocol.
- Proper storage of firearms.
- Cleaning and maintenance of a handgun.

- Draw and fire 4 rounds in 6 seconds: Lower, Scan, Holster & Secure.

STAGE THREE: 15 YARDS (Total rounds 6)
